Week 3: Assignment | Quantitative Article Search and Summary

Follow these guidelines when completing each component of the assignment. Contact your course faculty if you have questions.
- Review the characteristics of quantitative research within the Explore section of this week’s module and readings. The quantitative source of evidence you select must be a single source of evidence. Systematic reviews are not permitted for this assignment.
- Use the most current version of Microsoft Word that is the format for all Chamberlain University College of Nursing. You can tell the document is saved as the current version because it will end in “docx.”
- Review the rubric for the grading criteria.
The assignment includes the following components:
- Title page
- Introduction (The word “introduction” is not used – include title of paper as level one heading)
- Introduce the selected practice problem.
- Literature chosen is < 5 years old.
- Provides incidence and/or prevalence of the problem.
- Literary Search Strategy
- Identify the databases searched to locate the recent quantitative literature.
- Include keywords used in your search.
- Describe filters used.
- Critique of Article Using the John Hopkins Appraisal Tool
- Present aim of the study.
- Share the research method and design used.
- Provide sample size and description of the sample.
- Present overview of the findings.
- Share strengths and limitations of the study.
- Appraise the level and grade the quality of the study.
- Summary (Using your own words- as if you were sharing the highlights with a friend)
- Provide a summary detailing the main points and overall findings.
- Discuss if this is a solution that can contribute to the practice problem.
- Conclusion
- Provide a clear and logical conclusion in 1-2 concise paragraphs.
- Highlight the summary of findings.
- Highlight overall quality (level and grade).
- Conclude value of study to practice problem.
